The Eight Series of rebooted Doctor Who was comissioned in May 2013. It features Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor alongside Jenna Coleman returning as Clara Oswald.

It features 12 episodes which were broadcast from the 23rd of August 2014, shown in a continuous run, the first since Series 5 in 2010. Before the launch of the series a high profile world tour led to Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman and Steven Moffat visiting 5 continents showing the first episode.

The series recived mostly positive reviews. Capaldi's new Doctor was praised for his rough, new persona. Jenna Coleman's Clara was praised for the deeper exploration of her character. The darker tone was recieved positively with episodes such as "Listen", "Flatline" and "Dark Water" recieving extremley positive reviews from critics.

Crashing on the lunar surface, they find a mining base full of eviscerated corpses, spider-like creatures scuttling about in the dark, and a terrible dilemma. When Clara turns to the Doctor for help, she gets the shock of her life. Is the man she’s trusted so long really a hero after all? Is he even her friend?
